SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship 2021 call

The Department of Botany and Plant Biology at the University of Geneva is seeking to support a candidate who is planning to submit an application for an SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship (deadline for the grant application: 1 February 2021). For conditions and eligibility criteria, please see:

The successful candidate will conduct an ambitious, independent line of research addressing fundamental questions in plant biology within the Department of Botany and Plant Biology in Geneva. Candidates with a strong interest and proven track record in molecular plant biology or molecular microbiology are welcome to apply. Methods employed could include but are not limited to molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemistry & biophysics, genomics, synthetic biology or computational / structural biology; ideally complementing expertise already available in the department. Microbiology projects should have a clear link to the plant biology focus of the department, for example investigating plant – microbe interactions, or photosynthetic microorganisms.

The successful candidate will hold the rank of a non-tenure track assistant professor at the Faculty of Sciences.

Please send your application including a short motivation letter, a project description (one page max.), scientific achievements (one page max.), list of referees, and CV (two pages max.) as a single pdf to biveg-eccellenza2021(at)unige.ch, no later than October 31, 2020. Selected candidates that fit to the research lines of the department and fulfil the SNSF eligibility criteria for Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship applications will be invited to a mini-symposium to be held in the second part of November 2020, during which the candidate to be supported will be chosen.
